LAS VEGAS – April 13, 2010 – Tropicana Las Vegas, one of the last true landmark hotels in the city, has begun a $165 million Phase I transformation to be completed in April 2011. Situated on the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue, Las Vegas’ most famous intersection, the transformed property will feature a redesigned facade, all new rooms and suites, all new amenities, restaurants and bars, and entertainment and nightlife options that will bring the glamour, rhythm and style of South Beach to Tropicana Las Vegas. No corner of the property will remain untouched. “We are changing everything. We are turning great spaces into emotionally engaging environments. This transformation will revitalize our brand while redefining the ultimate resort experience, bringing the best of South Beach to the heart of Las Vegas,” said Alex Yemenidjian, Chairman and CEO of Tropicana Las Vegas. Styled to capture the laid-back island vibe, the rooms and suites are accented with bamboo furnishings and windows framed by white plantation shutters that welcome in natural light. The guest rooms are considered to be the “best-in-class” product for the mid-tier price range and will be the newest accommodations in the city. The first of the new hotel rooms will be unveiled on April 23 in the Paradise Tower. The conference center transformation is complete, with more than 100,000 square feet of versatile meeting and function space ready to accommodate up to 3,000 people. The conference center comprises a main ballroom with over 25,000 square feet with 11 breakout meeting rooms; a 10,000 square feet function space with eight smaller breakout rooms; and a 54,000 square feet indoor exhibition hall. Guests will find the excitement and sensual rhythm of the new Tropicana Las Vegas at every turn. The famous pool area, set on over four acres, will be transformed into a tropical beach resort complete with gaming, bars, and restaurants. The details of a new nightclub and beach club will be announced on May 11. Dining will be as diverse as South Beach itself, including authentic seafood restaurants, casual dining and wine tasting from around the world. Entertainment and nightlife will echo the vibrancy of a hot Havana night with performance venues that include a 1,000- seat showroom, a 300-seat cabaret style room, and a 150-seat bar and lounge. The casino, which will feature a new poker room and a new race and sports book, will channel a light, breezy, island feel throughout its 50,000 square feet. The casino floor and other main walkways are laid with Thassos White Marble, an elegant stone quarried only on the Greek island of the same name since ancient times.
